Dear Stakeholder:

The people of Venice enjoy great weather and an atmosphere of peace and acceptance. This is great! But what happens in the event of a disaster? Preparedness is the key to successfully withstanding the affects of a calamity, whether brought on by nature, terrorist threat or infrastructure failure. We enlist your support in getting the Venice Area prepared.

In the event of a disaster, there are a number of factors unique to Venice:

·        Due to tourism, many people caught in the web of a disaster will not be residents of Venice and may be far from familiar surroundings.

·        Due to the high number of homeless people in the area, there will be a lot of people who will need basic services (food, shelter and perhaps medical attention).

·        Even though we have a large number of economically challenged people in our midst, we have a great number of resourceful, even wealthy, people who live and do business in Venice.

We enlist your support in our efforts to expand the neighborhood dialog regarding the Venice area Disaster Preparedness plan. Please review the enclosed materials and post the planning meeting notice and Expo event flyer.

Perhaps there is something you wish to contribute to this effort. Please come join us on Tuesday, March 23 at 10:00, here at the Vera Davis YFC, 610 California Ave.

Thank you.
